Mike opened Rainy Daze with a full compliment of his own beers. Experience is everything, as is the people you know, and in the brewing game and you could not have much better mentors or a better running start to make a successful brewery. They even brought him into Sound as a brewer on Mondays and Fridays to learn the ropes of commercial brewing and get a feel for what it was going to be like. While Mike already had solid business experience and a vision, he credits Brad Ginn and Mark Hood from Sound Brewery in Poulsbo for helping with the licensing tasks and getting his supply chain nailed down. After discussions with one of his good friends, they decided to go forth and open a brewery, Rainy Daze Brewing. When Battenkill Brewing of Poulsbo announced their closure and sale of their brewing system, Mike made some phone calls and eventually acquired the brew system. What you may not know is that Mike has been home brewing for over 15 years and has made some pretty fine beers, including some that have won at the Kitsap County fair and even more that have been enjoyed by his large circle of friends and family.Īfter many years of back problems and some other life changing events, Mike decided it was time to refocus his energy into something that he really loved doing – brewing beer. An auto-electric business deeply rooted in Kitsap that found a young Mike Montoney working under his father in the early 1980’s, sweeping floors and working his way up to being the boss after his father retired a few years back. You may have heard the name Montoney if you have been around Kitsap County for any period and needed your car worked on.
